International tax and financial planning require more than technical expertise. They require collaboration between professionals who understand how tax, wealth management, relocation, retirement planning, and cross-border compliance interact in the real world.
Since 2019, US Tax Consultants and Know2Grow have worked together in supporting American expatriates and internationally mobile families with matters involving U.S., Spanish, and Portuguese taxation, as well as broader financial planning considerations.
Over the years, our two organizations have collaborated on numerous client matters involving cross-border tax compliance, retirement planning, relocations, property acquisitions, and financial decision-making across multiple jurisdictions. This practical experience has demonstrated the value of combining specialized tax expertise with comprehensive financial and lifestyle planning.
Today, we are pleased to formalize and expand this longstanding relationship through a strategic partnership framework designed to provide an even more integrated service offering for U.S. citizens, expatriates, retirees, investors, and internationally mobile families living in or relocating to Spain and Portugal.
The objective of this partnership is simple: to provide clients with coordinated advice that considers the full picture. Tax decisions often affect investment strategies, retirement plans, mortgage opportunities, and relocation choices. By bringing together the expertise of US Tax Consultants and Know2Grow, clients can benefit from a more holistic approach that helps them navigate the increasingly complex challenges of international living.
Why This Partnership Matters
Many expatriates work with several professionals at the same time, including tax advisers, financial planners, mortgage specialists, relocation consultants, accountants, and legal advisers. While each professional may be highly qualified in their own field, the lack of coordination between advisers can sometimes lead to conflicting recommendations, duplicated efforts, missed planning opportunities, and unnecessary costs.
Our shared vision is to provide a more coordinated approach.
By combining the U.S. tax and international compliance expertise of US Tax Consultants with the financial planning, mortgage advisory, wealth management, and relocation capabilities of Know2Grow, we aim to offer clients a more complete solution that addresses both tax and financial considerations.
A Seamless Experience for Clients
One of the primary objectives of the partnership is to create a smoother client experience.
Clients introduced through Know2Grow may require support with:
- U.S. tax return preparation.
- FBAR and FATCA compliance.
- IRS representation.
- Expatriation planning.
- Cross-border tax planning.
At the same time, clients of US Tax Consultants frequently need assistance with:
- Financial planning.
- Retirement planning.
- Mortgage financing.
- Property acquisition.
- Investment strategy.
- Relocation services.
Through this partnership, clients will be able to access coordinated guidance from professionals who understand how these issues interact with one another across multiple jurisdictions.
Supporting Americans in Portugal
An important focus of the partnership is the growing American expatriate community in Portugal.
As part of the initial phase of the collaboration, both organizations will work together to provide practical guidance and professional support for Americans living, working, investing, and retiring in Portugal. This includes coordinating U.S. and Portuguese tax compliance matters while helping clients navigate financial and planning decisions that often arise when relocating internationally.
The partnership is intended to create a clearer client journey, ensuring that individuals receive the right support from the right professionals at the appropriate stage of their relocation or financial planning process.
Investing in Professional Education
One of the most exciting aspects of the partnership is its commitment to professional training and knowledge sharing.
The first initiative involves a structured training program between both organizations. The program will focus on U.S. tax return preparation for American expatriates in Portugal, while also exploring the interaction between U.S., Portuguese, and Spanish tax systems. The goal extends beyond learning how to prepare tax returns.
We believe that modern international tax professionals need to understand how different tax systems interact and how decisions made in one country can affect tax outcomes in another. The training program is therefore designed to develop a broader cross-border perspective that ultimately benefits our clients.
Looking further ahead, both organizations envision creating a broader educational framework covering U.S., Portuguese, and Spanish taxation, with practical case studies focused on expatriates, retirees, entrepreneurs, remote workers, and internationally mobile families.
Educational Events and Community Outreach
The partnership will also include educational initiatives aimed at helping the American community better understand the increasingly complex tax and financial environment they face abroad.
Subject to final coordination with local organizations, we anticipate hosting an online webinar during December 2026, followed by in-person presentations and seminars in Lisbon during January 2027 with the American Club of Lisbon. These events will focus on U.S. tax compliance, Portuguese tax obligations, cross-border planning opportunities, and practical guidance for Americans living in Portugal.
Our objective is not only to provide professional services but also to contribute to greater financial and tax literacy within the expatriate community.
A Stronger Client Experience Through Technology
The partnership places a strong emphasis on technology and communication.
Both organizations intend to utilize coordinated onboarding procedures, shared communication protocols, Microsoft Teams consultations, Microsoft Bookings scheduling, and centralized client management systems to ensure a consistent and efficient client experience.
Clients will receive structured onboarding materials, including Welcome Packs, clear engagement procedures, key contact information, and guidance regarding next steps. This approach is intended to make the advisory process simpler, more transparent, and easier to navigate.
Looking to the Future
While the initial phase of the partnership focuses on supporting expatriates and international families, the long-term vision is much broader.
Together, US Tax Consultants and Know2Grow aim to build a recognized center of excellence for U.S., Spanish, and Portuguese cross-border tax and financial advisory services. Future initiatives may include pre-relocation planning programs, annual tax and financial health reviews, business advisory services, resources for entrepreneurs, and specialized support for internationally mobile workforces.
As the needs of expatriates continue to evolve, we believe that closer collaboration between tax, financial, and relocation professionals will become increasingly important. This partnership represents an important step toward delivering the integrated, client-focused support that international families deserve.
